At Bodhi we strive to engage in ethical, non-exploitative and spiritually beneficial business. We aim to make a difference in the world by:

  • Building a sense of community, by building a relationship with our customers
  • Providing a comprehensive range of books on the Buddhist teachings, ethical living and a life enriched through meditation, wisdom and compassion
  • Sourcing gifts that have been ethically made, Fair Trade, or direct from the artisans, providing valuable income, and are non exploitative
  • Sharing our enthusiasm, to make a conscious choice in what they buy, and the impact that has. Supporting us supports others. "Good for you, good for our world"

Vision

The world is deeply interconnected, in ways that you and I can only speculate.

All life is fragile, interdependent and precious, in ways you and I can only imagine.

When we sense that interdependence, feel that connection with life, it can lift us to new ways of perceiving and experiencing ourselves, others and the world.

We aim to provide the means to feel this sense of interconnection and interdependence, this preciousness of life and of being alive, no matter where you’re at, where you’re coming from or where you think you’re going.

Through attention, ethical engagement, kindness and wise choices, we aim to enhance our appreciation of life and our wondrous place in life.

Through Windhorse | Bodhi we hope to help lift you into a new sense of appreciation of yourself, humanity and the world around you.

History

Ratnajyoti's story:

At the age of 23, on my sister’s boyfriend’s bookshelf, I found a book that not only spoke to my existential questions, but opened a door to the means to evolve: perspectives, practices and a community of like-minded individuals.

Even then I could see that making available books like this one would help transform the lives of many people and society more generally. So I learnt the book trade and later started Windhorse Books.

Over time we developed a team of individuals keen to experience work as a place of (spiritual) challenge, uplift and deepening practice—a means to reach each of our potential.

Bodhi opened it's doors in December 2007. The foundation and experience at Bodhi Books and Gifts comes via Windhorse Books which has distributed books to bookshops, Buddhist groups and individuals since 1994.

Today Bodhi seeks to connect not only with those seeking teachings and resources, but also — locally, Australia-wide and internationally — by trading in ethically-sourced, environmentally-responsible products.
